“I read it when it was a short story in The New Yorker and have been meaning to read the full novel. I love how he gets the voices and attitudes down perfectly!”

“Read "Drown". You may regret that, too!”

“It's a book of short stories, right? I have a hard time with short stories; I love them, but I want to stay with the people longer... I can't get as invested in such a short time. Don't get me wrong--I love them. But considering I'm already mad at Oscar Wao for ending, this may a disastrous recommendation. (Disastrous in the best sense of the word, of course. Thanks for sharing the tip.)”

“I read this book when it was a short story in The New Yorker and was surprised to see it as a novel. I was a kind of Oscar Wao (weightwise, not with relationships for the most part), so I enjoyed the ride.
Short stories are just a different type of ride ;)”

“I first read this when Junot Diaz wrote it as a short story in The New Yorker and I loved it. I guess I should give it a chance if someone from my old hometown likes it!”
