“I recommend this book to all my friends as one of the five best novels I have read in the past ten years.

The others are:

"The March", by E.L. Doctorow
"The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay", by Michael Chabon
"The Indian Clerk", by David Leavitt
"The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet", by David Mitchell”

“I dunno how you feel about audiobooks, but I can tell you that I actually listened to "The March" because I reviewed it for Audible.com, and I think that Joe Morton's narration may be one of the five bestI've ever heard.

The others are:

Frank Muller reading Robert Stone's "Damascus Gate"
Bobby Canavale reading Richard Price's "Lush Life"
Fritz Weaver reading selections from Walt Whitman's "Leaves of Grass" (particularly "When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloomed")
David Sedaris reading any of his books with the exceptions of the last two ("When You Are Engulfed in Flames" and the embarrassingly god-awful "Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk")”
