“I told a buddy, this book is the summit of literature for me. Profound and beautiful from start to finish. My book snob side uses this type of book to distinguish between people who read-read and people who read Harry Potter (not that there is anything wrong with Harry Potter).”

“What I remember most from this book read long ago was how the father, a self-professed mediocre to good philosopher at a provincial university, yet understood the process by which great philosophers worked. They are the ones who can flash from A-Z in an instant, not requiring the intervening steps.

Another way to phrase this, perhaps: I use words to define what I see, what before language we already knew.”
