“I can pull it out of the hat for special meals (thanks to Delia Smith), but not so much on the day to day cookery. Harold McGee's "On Food and Cooking: the Science and Lore of the Kitchen has been great for advice on the larger principles that keep one on track. I can, however, do all sorts of house repair, including tearing out a sink, installing shut-off valves, putting in a new one and attaching the service lines - oh! and I"ve mixed up heaps of cement to change the drainage for my Kingston walkway and applied the deceptively named 'float' effectively - but the most relevant book I can think of for these skills is "This Old House"”

“I also enjoyed this book. It has made me think twice about every wanting to be a chef though. I love to cook but it sounds like it is a whole different story when you do it as a job. Have you ever eaten at a Mario Batali restaurant? After reading this I became a big fan and have tried almost all of his here in the city. How is Seattle these days? How do you like using this site?”
