“Amazing how much could be contained in one short narrative! Still one of the best novels about self-discovery ever.”

“Like you, I didn't read this book until I was in college and it had always been built up so much that I was afraid it might fall short. Not only is the story wonderful and tragic, but Hurston's language is so beautiful. This book spoke to me on so many levels. Once I started I couldn't put it down and I found myself weeping as I read.”
