“Agreed about the torturing! As for Irving, I really didn't like A Widow for One Year (although the "Door in the Floor" section of it was great) or one of his more recent ones, "Until I Find You." Those are the major offenders for me, although there have been others that I was just "eh" about ("Water Method Man," "Fourth Hand," etc.). And I think there are two or three that I haven't read yet. But for me, the Big Four of Greatness are "Owen Meany," "World According to Garp," "Hotel New Hampshire," and "Cider House Rules."
You?”

“Yes, I would agree that the earlier ones weren't my favorites nor was "A Widow for One Year" or "The Fourth Hand." "Owen Meany" & "Cider House Rules" are probably my 2 favorites by him. Have you read his new one yet?”

“I really enjoyed this one as well. Whoever did the movie adaption should be thoroughly tortured.
Which other John Irving do you like or dislike?”
