Seeking a man, 42 to 55
I would describe myself as...

a politically progressive agnostic adrift in the Bible Belt. I read books on theology - mostly Christianity - so that my neighbors won't realize my deep, dark secret. I recently moved to the Crossville area and hope to meet a like-minded single, divorced, or widowed gentleman who shares my progressive values, loves books and is interested in either friendship or a serious relationship.

I love books: great books, good books, and sometimes completely terrible books. I hope to re-read some great books soon to add to this page...

Following a recent move I don't have enough time at the computer to be a good pen-pal. Thanks for reading!

When people meet me, they notice...

they don't. I blend into backgrounds very well.

If they meet me online they notice that I often don't proof what I type and that I use erratic punctuation in personal correspondence.

You'll often find me...

reading, which is why I wanted to try this site. It's difficult to find like-minded people in this area even when I put the books down and go out.

Two things I can't live without...

books and lots of hot water.

The bravest thing I've done recently...

I drove through hills and hollers (I didn't grow up calling them that - it's a regional expression - but after this trip it seems appropriate) on a tiny road with zero visibility during a storm with a yowling cat riding shotgun. The only other option was to stop and get hit by a truck, though, so it was the lesser of two evils.

I am particularly good at...

befriending four-legged beings and putting away an astounding amount of good chocolate for a petite adult.

My favorite literary quotes are...

'Son, sometimes it's enough just to act less like a shithead' Mary Doria Russell, The Sparrow. My favorite advice from any Jesuit, fictional or otherwise.

'Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.' attributed to Heinlein or Hanlon

'Don't worry about avoiding temptation. As you grow older, it will avoid you.'
- Winston Churchill, and it's getting easier every day.

'Love is an element....Like air to breathe, earth to stand on.' Laini Taylor

'I feel that a sense of compassion is the most precious thing there is.' The Dalai Lama.

Actually, I don't have favorite literary quotes. It depends upon the day. Some of my favorites come from incredibly non-literary sources.
