When people meet me, they notice...I can usually help them with their problems one of my occupations is therapist, but I very often establish that relationship with a person i have just met in another context. People often tell me things they have not confided before, or ask for help with their problems.
You'll often find me...buying materials for the gift bags for the babies at the local women's emergency shelter. I make up about 80 a year.
Two things I can't live without...My new grand-daughter, and music in various forms. I was not prepared for the fact that grandchildren are every bit as important emotionally as one's own children. I belong to a folk music club and subscribe to both classical and folk music concerts.
The bravest thing I've done recently...is to set up a Trust Fund forth recently widowed mother of a former student. it involved contacting newspapers, placing ads , making an appointment with a bank manager, and generally putting myself 'out here" for the sake of this family.
I am particularly good at...getting people to donate stuff to causes. For my school. I have successfully solicited a maple tree for the ten-year anniversary, paint for a mural the kids were doing for the front hall, hot dogs fora barbecue, car loads of large-size diapers for the Special Needs kids in my classroom, unwanted pets for the School Zoo, and prizes for the Fun Fair.
