“This book is chock-a-block with interesting ideas. I particularly liked his section on the history of writing, an interest of mine. Writing is so recent, not much more than 2,000 years old, it hardly has had time even to begin to influence our biology, although culturally it has been important for 1000 years until recently. Will it die out as video becomes more pervasive? Will it become an esoteric skill, again? The modern shape of English letters are a disgrace to our ingenuity and make it needlessly difficult to learn to read English. Ancient Hebrew/Phoenician letters could be taught to a 2 year old.
