41-year-old woman in Montclair, NJ, United States
Seeking a man, 38 to 49
I would describe myself as...

I like to cook and dance at the same time (and I like to cook). Going into the outdoors is wonderful- hiking, walking, skiing, etc. I love the sun on my face. I seem more bohemian and edgy than I actually am. Love to read, think, curl up and do the crossword, hike, walk everywhere reasonable, play with my son. He’s 5 (and a half, he’d remind me) and a big part of my life. I got very lucky in the kid department.

I love to read- genre depends on my mood. Some non-fiction, literature, memoirs, chick lit, thrillers, -eclectic mix.

I'm a foodie- but not a snob. I lived in Europe for several years, so got to try many regional cuisines. I'll try most things as long as they're not moving.... Enjoy most cuisines: Thai, French, Sushi, Ethiopian, Indian, Continental, Cuban...etc. My most favorite (or memorable) meals seem to be French. Of all favorite meals- La Lorraine in Luxembourg City.

Overall, I am looking for someone like me; a complex mixture of serious and playful, sensual and pragmatic, intelligent, optimistic, open to new experiences, and a bit of a foodie (but not a food snob). Family-oriented is important. Someone who likes to exchange ideas. Someone who prefers discussion over drama or emotional withdrawal.

A great relationship can occasionally take hard work to maintain. Few things of value come free in life - those that are worth having are worth working to earn, maintain, and enhance, with laughter, understanding, and love.

When people meet me, they notice...

the eyes. or the hair.

You'll often find me...

reading. on my computer. playing with my son. cooking. trying not to use my computer. doing the NYT crossword. relaxing and decompressing. hiking. eating something ethnic.

Two things I can't live without...

my son. my son. the Library of Congress (I bet everyone gets around that "only two" answer with this one).

The bravest thing I've done recently...

chose myself in ten years over myself today.

I am particularly good at...

kindness.
